Bundiyarra’s biggest assets are their board, staff and members. These people are a wealth of cultural knowledge to the Midwest, Murchison and Gascoyne regions.
Many yarns at Bundiyarra have shared a common ground - they want to share their knowledge and listen to yours. The collaboration of their personal experiences including growing up in the region, the languages they speak and dream time stories has led to the creation of ‘Connecting Cultures - Cultural Awareness Training.
Bundiyarra CEO, said that participants who complete their training will receive a Yamaji Card.
"We will be trying to have the card endorsed so that employees can show local employers that they have completed the course locally. We recommend people conduct the training from trainers who have lived and grown in the region.” she said.

Our training is designed to improve and enhance participants' knowlege about Aboriginal people and develop a respect for cultures.
Our trainers will share history and culture that will -
- Assist with relating an working more effectively with Aboriginal people in the Midwest, Murchison and Gascoyne regions.
- Help to buld partnerships based on mutual respect, understanding, cooperation and trust.
- Promote a knowledge and understanding of cultures and experiences of Aboriginal people.
One Day Course (9.30am - 3.30pm)

Participants will engage with up to five local Aboriginal facilitators to undertake -
- A brief in-depth look at the comparitive history of Australia and how it affects current work practices an Aboriginal people in today's society.
- How Aboriginal people identify themselves.
- The languages and culture within the Miwest, Murchison and Gascoyne regions.
- How to engage and communicate with Aboriginal people.
- Sharing and learning stories - personal and work experiences.
- Local Elders will share their history and knowledge.
- Tour to local significant land and sea sites.

Tailored Options
|
|
To assist large organisations or organisations outside Greater Geraldton successfully complete our 'Connecting Cultures' training, our team can;
- Travel to your organisation.
- Train more than 20 participants based on size of training room available.
- Tailor a program specific to your organisations specifications (eg health, education, mining).
- If the training is not hosted at Bundiyarra in Geralton, or in Geralton, the tour to local significant land and sea sites may not be available.
Quotation will be provided once course specifications have been identified.

Our Local Trainers
Jennifer Kniveton
Qualified Trainer (Cert IV Train the Trainer), Bundiyarra - Irra Wangga Language Coordinator, Bundiyarra Member, Streeties Board Member
‘Our Black Pearl’ - Locally born and bred, Jennifer Kniveton is a qualified trainer, who has worked across WA for several years. Working as Project Manager of the Bundiyarra - Irra Wangga Language Program, Jenny is committed to restoring, preserving and educating language and Aboriginal culture.
Nadine Taylor
Nadine was born in Geraldton and was raised in the Murchison area. Nadine is a Wajarri/Amungu lady who is heavily involved in her local community. Nadine has worked extensively at schools as an AIEO and specialised in working with languages through the Indigenous Language Speaking Students Program. She has a wealth of knowledge about her culture and language and is aware of the history of this area.
Nadine works with Bundiyarra as an Aboriginal Guest Speaker and is currently studying for a 3 year degree with the Aboriginal Languages Teacher Training Course. Nadine is an asset to the organisation and has experience in public speaking.
Carmen Simpson
Carmen lives in Geraldton and works with Bundiyarra as an Aboriginal Guest Speaker. Carmen has lots of experience and knowledge of her culture and language and has worked with languages and culture program with local schools and community agencies.
Carmen is a Wajarri/Badimaya woman who has an interest in teaching languages in schools and community. Carmen is currently enrolled in the Aboriginal Languages Teacher Training Course and will become a fully qualified language teacher in 3 years.
Leonie Boddington
Bundiyarra - Irra Wangga Senior Language Worker
A traditional Wajarri lady with many talents! Leonie is a dedicated family orientated lady who is addicted to her culture. She is a Wajarri speaker and one of the main local educators within Bundiyarra of the Wajarri language. Leonie has travelled and worked extensively with many Elders and peoples to restore, preserve and educate Aboriginal language.
